Under the leadership of Leo Erazo (Altos Las Ormigas, Mendoza) and his partner Justin Decker, Rogue Vine produces wines with a reflective terroir from wines from two sub-regions of Chile’s Itata Valley. Here, vines are grown mainly in dry conditions and are grown by shrubs, and some plants are even over 100 years old. The duo employs simple and honest winemaking methods, including the use of local yeast, old barrels and minimal sulfur when bottled. This 45/30/25 blend of Moscatel, Riesling and Sémillon is made from organic fruits grown on Paleozoic granite soils. The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully pressed and aged in neutral oak. The wine shows a pronounced aroma of stone fruits, flowers and lychee, followed by a concentrated palate with juicy notes of star fruit, citrus and moist seeds. This unique and food-friendly mix is ideal with Thai sauce, ramen and other take-out dishes.
