Sparkling Varietals

Sparkling wine is a type of wine that is carbonated, giving it a fizzy and bubbly texture. It is a popular drink for celebrations and special occasions, but it can also be enjoyed on its own or paired with food. There are many varieties of sparkling wine, each with its own unique flavor profile and characteristics.

One of the most well-known varieties of sparkling wine is Champagne. Champagne is a sparkling wine that is produced in the Champagne region of France. It is made using a specific method called the traditional method, which involves a secondary fermentation in the bottle. This process creates the bubbles that Champagne is known for. Some famous Champagne brands include Moet & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Dom Perignon.

Another popular variety of sparkling wine is Prosecco. Prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine that is made using the Charmat method, which involves a secondary fermentation in a large tank. Prosecco is known for its fruity and floral flavors, and it is often used in cocktails. Some famous Prosecco brands include La Marca, Mionetto, and Zonin.

Cava is a Spanish sparkling wine that is made using the traditional method. It is produced primarily in the Catalonia region of Spain and is known for its crisp and refreshing taste. Some famous Cava brands include Freixenet, Codorniu, and Segura Viudas.

Sparkling wine is also produced in other regions of France, such as the Loire Valley and Burgundy. These wines are often made using the traditional method and are known for their delicate and complex flavors. Some famous French sparkling wine brands include Vouvray, Cremant de Bourgogne, and Crémant d'Alsace.

There are also many sparkling wines produced outside of Europe. In the United States, sparkling wine is produced in California, primarily in the Napa Valley and Sonoma County regions. Some famous American sparkling wine brands include Schramsberg, Domaine Carneros, and Chandon.

Sparkling wine is a versatile drink that can be enjoyed in many different ways. It is often served as an aperitif before a meal, but it can also be paired with food. Sparkling wine pairs well with seafood, cheese, and light appetizers. It is also a popular drink for celebrations, such as weddings and New Year's Eve.

  • Critical Acclaim

Light straw colour and a toasty-bread bouquet, with straw-hay and bakery aromas, mainly fresh-baked bread, toast and brioche. The palate is soft and seems slightly coarse at first, with a slight phenolic grip countered by fairly obvious liqueur sweetness. With nuts, served as an aperitif, it comes into its own, showing richness and generosity as well as refinement, and better palate harmony. It's less suited to oysters. (50/50 chardonnay and pinot noir. This bottle was in better condition than the previous one tasted)
