Hyde de Villaine (HdV) is a venture between the Hyde Family of Napa Valley and the de Villaine Family of Burgundy. The families, related by marriage, share long histories in French and Californian wine making. In HdV, they have brought together their knowledge and experience for the purpose of creating single vineyard wines from the slopes of Hyde Vineyards. An expressive, open nose shows intricate and intense notes of black olives and tobacco, with a gentle touch of anise and black-berry. Despite the impressive weight, this subtle Merlot Cabernet is wonderfully decadent. On the palate, the wine expresses succulent black and blue fruits, Asian spice filled palate, finishing with elegance and famine grace.
