Dark Rum

Dark rum is a powerful beverage with a strong flavor that is prepared by distilling sugar cane juice or molasses. It’s usually aged for 2–20 years in oak barrels.

The flavors of ripe fruit can be found in dark rums. Spicy oak, toffee, vanilla, chocolate, and toasted flavors can be detected in these rums. Dark rums are commonly used to flavor mixed beverages, hot drinks, as digestifs, and as digestifs. Many cocktails, such as Cuba Libre and eggnog, have dark rum as a primary ingredient. On a cold evening, a rum toddy – a drink mixed with hot tea or water, honey or sugar, and dark rum – will warm you up. Old dark rum, similar to Cognac, is an excellent digestif.

Best Way to Serve Propeller Dark Rum

Dark rum is served at varying temperatures depending on how it is used: chilled in mixed drinks and at room temperature when served alongside coffee or in a toddy. Chocolate and festive cakes and pastries can also be flavored with dark rum.

Review Highlights

Propeller Dark Rum Review

  1. Maciej

Its an interesting rum, not a bad aftertaste but nothing amazing. Propeller Dark Rum: tasted in Poland.

  2. Suprsingly Good

This is an excellent dark rum when mixed with coke and a dash of lime. Highly recommend Propeller dark rum!

  3. Mark P

Easily consumed with lime. Strong alcohol flavor but neat aftertaste.

  4. Euro in Taipei

Loved it! But definitely mix it with something this is NOT a smooth rum. We purchased Propeller Dark Rum here in Taiwan. It’s the first bath of the Lithuanian liquor we have brought in to help with the Chinese blockades. Very interesting looking bottle. Not sure its my favorite European rum but definitely worth a try.

  5. Christiano

Medium full bodied rum with a copper color. Use it in cocktails, it’s not good to drink neat.
