Brachetto is a red grape variety from the Piedmont region of Italy, known for producing light, aromatic red and rosé wines, often with a slight sweetness and effervescence. Brachetto wines typically exhibit flavors of strawberry, raspberry, and rose petals, with an ABV usually ranging from 5-7%. Its popularity is due to its unique, fragrant profile and the ability to produce refreshing, low-alcohol wines that are perfect for aperitifs and desserts.
The rolling hills and diverse soils of Piedmont provide a perfect environment for Brachetto, allowing the grape to develop its characteristic aromatics and freshness. Brachetto d’Acqui, a sparkling version, is particularly well-known and enjoyed for its light, festive character. The grape’s ability to produce wines that are both playful and sophisticated makes it a favorite for celebratory occasions and a delightful match for fruit-based desserts and lighter fare.
