Parellada is a white grape variety primarily grown in the Penedès region of Spain, where it is used as one of the primary grapes in Cava production. It produces light, crisp wines with flavors of green apple, pear, and citrus. The ABV for Parellada wines typically ranges from 11-12.5%. Its popularity is due to its ability to produce fresh, aromatic wines that are perfect for sparkling wine production.

The warm, Mediterranean climate and varied soils of Penedès provide ideal conditions for Parellada, allowing the grape to retain its natural acidity and develop its characteristic flavors. Parellada is often used in blends with Macabeo and Xarel-lo to create balanced and complex Cava wines. The grape’s role in the production of Spain’s renowned sparkling wines and its ability to produce fresh, lively varietal wines make it a favorite among winemakers and consumers alike.
